Jeffrey K. Lyles
 Jeffrey K. Lyles has been The Gazette Newspapers’ movie reviewer since 1998. Like most filmgoers, he has strong opinions on movies but was fortunate enough to begin sharing his thoughts as a staff writer for Howard University’s The Hilltop newspaper. The experience proved addictive for him and about 600 reviewed movies later, he still loves it as much as he did a decade ago.
As a fan of movies, Jeffrey doesn’t have a preferred genre and is proud of his DVD collection complete with a romantic comedy section — albeit a pretty small one.
Among his favorite films are The Star Wars saga, The Godfather I and II, Unforgiven and Aliens and the words “the latest comedy from Eddie Murphy” cause him many a sleepless night.
Four years ago, Jeffrey had the privilege of joining the increasingly more prestigious Washington Area Film Critics Association and continues to be (overly) optimistic that every time the lights go out in the theater, he’s in for a treat.
