About Us 
The Washington, DC Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) was founded in 2002 and is comprised of DC-based film critics from television, radio, print and the internet. As of mid-2007, WAFCA has grown to include 39 members in the DC area.
The group annually recognizes the best in film each December. Since 2002, WAFCA has honored filmmakers such as Denzel Washington, Jack Nicholson, Jamie Foxx, Julieanne Moore, Peter Jackson, Bill Murray, Steven Spielberg, Naomi Watts, Cate Blanchett, and more.
Winners in 2006 included Forest Whitaker for Best Actor, Helen Mirren for Best Actress, and the film United 93 as Best Film of 2006. Our 2007 winners will be announced on December 10th. A complete history of award winners can be found in Our Awards section.
